Sepulcro (Sepulcro – Perú)

Sepulcro is an iconic Thrash Metal band from Callao, Peru, recognized as a fundamental pillar of the Peruvian underground metal scene. Formed in 1987, they were among the first waves of bands in the country to transition from traditional Heavy Metal toward a more aggressive, high-speed Thrash sound.

Band Overview

  • Origin: Callao, Peru
  • Formed: 1987 (originally active until 1991; reformed in 2013)
  • Genre: Thrash Metal (Early style: Power/Thrash Metal)
  • Lyrical Themes: Reality, social issues, and daily struggle.

History & Evolution

The band emerged during a turbulent era in Peru, finding its roots in the port city of Callao. Originally operating under the name Satanaika (1986–1987), they soon changed their name to Sepulcro. They became known for their raw, high-energy performances and several seminal demos that circulated through the international tape-trading circuit in the late 80s, such as Reh. 88 and Power’s Trace (1990).

After a long hiatus following their 1991 split, the core members reunited in 2013. This second chapter has seen the band maintain their old-school Thrash roots while benefiting from modern production standards, culminating in their latest major release, Sinner.
