Muggeseggel (Germany)
Muggeseggel is a unique and humorous Alemannic Death Metal and Grindcore band from Lörrach, in the Markgräflerland region of Southwest Germany. Formed in May 2022, they have carved out a niche for themselves by blending high-speed, brutal music with lyrics written entirely in the Alemannic German dialect.
Band Overview
- Origin: Lörrach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
- Formed: 2022
- Genre: Death Metal / Grindcore / “Alemannic Metal”
- Lyrical Themes: Wine-growing culture, local legends, poems, and regional dialect stories.
- Label: Kernkraftritter Records
The Name & Image
- The Name: “Muggeseggel” is a humorous Alemannic idiom used to describe a very small, non-specific length or amount. Literally translated, it refers to a “housefly’s scrotum.”
- The Look: In a striking contrast to typical extreme metal aesthetics, the band often performs in traditional Alemannic costumes (Trachten) to pay homage to their homeland’s wine-growing heritage.
History & Discography
Despite their relatively short history, Muggeseggel has been highly productive:
- Muggeseggel (Album, 2023): Their self-titled debut album was released on October 6, 2023. It features 12 tracks of chaotic grindcore mixed with death metal, dealing with everything from social critiques (under the guise of “stomach aches”) to local myths.
- Key Tracks: “Ranzepfiffe,” “Muggeseggel,” and “Bodesuri.”
- Lällekönig (Album, 2025): Their second full-length album was released on September 26, 2025. It features crystal-clear production by Christoph Brandes (Iguana Studios) and continues their tradition of “terribly violent” music paired with a relaxed, humorous eye.
- Key Tracks: “Lällekönig,” “Waggis,” and “De Pfarrer vo Haltige.”
Current Lineup (2026)
The band consists of experienced musicians from the German underground scene (notably the band Convictors):
- Bruttler: Vocals (ex-Pessimist)
- Lieslige Karle: Guitars
- Trübli-Udo: Guitars / Bass (Convictors)
- Saubueb: Drums (Convictors)
Muggeseggel at Næstved Metalfest?
As of early 2026, Muggeseggel is not currently listed on the official 32-band roster for Næstved Metalfest 2026. However, their record label (Kernkraftritter Records) frequently has artists appearing at Northern European festivals. Given the festival’s love for “Biergarten” atmosphere and unique, high-energy acts, they would be a perfect fit for the smaller “Kaserne” stage.
