Nakkeknækker (Danish for “Neckbreaker”) is arguably the most successful “hype story” in recent Danish death metal history. Hailing from Silkeborg, the band formed in 2020 and achieved the rare feat of becoming a major festival mainstay across Europe before they had even released a single official song.
In late 2024, upon signing with the legendary label Nuclear Blast Records, the band changed their name to the more internationally accessible Neckbreakker.

Their sound is a tribute to the early 90s era—citing influences like Entombed, Morbid Angel, and Bloodbath—but delivered with a youthful, aggressive energy that appeals to the hardcore and thrash crowds as well.

After years of anticipation, the band finally released their debut full-length album on December 6, 2024, via Nuclear Blast.

Neckbreakker is one of the most anticipated acts for Copenhell 2026. Having “graduated” from the smaller stages in previous years, they are expected to hit the main stages with their largest production to date. They are also embarking on a headlining European tour throughout 2025 and 2026 to support Within The Viscera.
Fun Fact: Lead singer Christoffer Kofoed is famous for his “all-in” performance style—he once famously broke his nose during a stage dive, only to climb back up and finish the set while bleeding.
