Decapitated famously started as “teen prodigies”; when they recorded their debut album Winds of Creation (2000), drummer Vitek was only 15 and guitarist Vogg was 17. They quickly became the gold standard for technical precision in death metal.
- The Tragedy (2007): While on tour in Russia/Belarus, the band’s bus collided with a truck. Drummer Witold “Vitek” KieÅ‚tyka tragically passed away at age 23, and vocalist Adrian “Covan” Kowanek sustained severe, life-altering injuries.
- Reformation (2009): After a hiatus, Vogg reformed the band with a new lineup. Since then, the band has shifted from “pure” technical death metal toward a more groove-heavy, rhythmic sound (often compared to Gojira or Pantera).
